Art Déco Shark skin & Marine Ivory 1920s Table Clock /Horloge de table/Tischuhr Rare
A fine and rare Serra-Roma Art Déco shark skin and marine ivory table clock, 1920s - 1930s
Beautiful square-shaped case entirely covered in Galuchat, i.e. tanned shark skin (Scyliorhinus canicula) with marine ivory frames (sperm whale or or killer whale ivory, Physeter Linnaeus, 1758 or Orcinus orca, Linnaeus, 1758); brass watch, gilded dial with Arabic numerals and luminous spheres bearing the inscription '8 Days - Serra Roma'.
In good condition, normal tim and wear signs. The watch movement is currently working, the accuracy cannot be guaranteed due to its age
A rare, one of one colector timepiece, a great addition to any collection
A fine special gift
The legacy of Serra as crafters of “archeological jewels” begins in 1910 with Mario Serra, who set his jewelry boutique like an artist’s studio that soon became a reference point of the high society of the time and was named the supplier of the Italian Royal family.
