Overview: In 1969 Rolex launches the 1680, it is the first Submariner with the date function. It is equipped with a glass flat profile glass that exceeds 3mm from the edge of the bezel. For the first time on a submariner, a Cyclops lens is glued to the outside of the glass to make the date easier to read. The 1680 was produced until 1979 and makes part of the Submariners that are becoming more sought after by collectors.
