A superb and well-preserved example of the iconic Omega Seamaster Automatic Chronograph, reference 176.007, housing the historically important Caliber 1040 – Omega’s first automatic chronograph movement, developed in collaboration with Lemania and considered a milestone in the brand’s technical evolution.

This example dates to circa 1969, based on its movement number 31,648,407, placing it at the very beginning of Omega’s pioneering era of automatic chronographs.

Key Features:

Silver T-SWISS MADE-T dial, retaining its original tritium luminous dots at the hour markers, beautifully aged and intact

Blue central chronograph seconds hand and blue 12-hour chronograph counter at 6 o’clock, adding a striking vintage contrast

Signed dial: Omega – Automatic – Seamaster

Inner tachymeter scale (500 to 60)

24-hour indicator, date at 3 o’clock, and central chronograph hand

Original Omega-signed crown

Case, case back, movement, and dial all correctly Omega-signed

Case & Movement:

The distinctive tonneau-shaped stainless steel case measures 38 × 42 mm, offering excellent wrist presence and the unmistakable 1970s Omega style. This example remains sharp, crisp, and unpolished, with only minimal signs of age-appropriate wear.

Powered by the celebrated Omega Caliber 1040, the brand’s first automatic chronograph movement, regarded by collectors as one of the most important calibers in Omega’s history. The watch is in normal working condition; not tested for accuracy.
