The Omega Seamaster 200 “SHOM” is a rare and highly sought-after tool watch originally designed in the 1970s. While its bold case may resemble some of Omega’s Ploprof models, the SHOM has its own unique history, tied not to commercial release, but to military and governmental use — particularly by France’s hydrographic and oceanographic service, from which it gets its nickname.
Though Omega never mass-produced it for public sale at the time, the SHOM case was manufactured for government and military contracts, lending it the allure of professional-grade rarity.
Unlike its cousin, the Ploprof 600, the SHOM was never part of Omega's full retail lineup — making original examples incredibly rare and highly collectible.
It’s considered a "holy grail" piece by vintage Omega collectors and military watch enthusiasts alike, particularly because of its connection to the French navy’s oceanographic division.
