Introduced in 1970, the Omega Megaquartz 2400 (Ref. 196.001) Constellation was one of the first quartz watches capable of achieving chronometer certification.
It featured a 2.4 MHz quartz oscillator, significantly higher than the standard 32 kHz quartz movements of most other brands, giving it exceptional precision.
Omega submitted these watches to the Observatory Chronometer trials, where they achieved unprecedented accuracy levels, with deviations as low as 1 second per month.
The Omega Constellation Megaquartz is a fascinating timepiece from the 1970s that represents Omega's push into high-precision quartz technology. It was one of the most accurate wristwatches of its time and remains a sought-after collector's item today.
