Junghans was founded in 1861 in Schramberg in the Black Forest and developed into a leading German manufacturer of precision timepieces, particularly for military use. Cockpit clocks of the J30 BZ type were standard equipment in Luftwaffe aircraft from the late 1930s onwards. Their robust construction and reliable movement made them an indispensable navigation instrument in German military aircraft during the Second World War.
