As a painter, Bruno Munari belongs to the concrete art movement, with a predilection for the square shape, a stable form that is always equal to itself, with no side privileged. Part of his work is devoted to the creation of children's books, which are veritable book-objects.
He has been a fundamental contributor to various fields of the visual arts (painting, sculpture, cinematography, industrial design, graphics), not least literature, poetry and teaching, with polymorphous research on the theme of movement, light and the development of children's creativity and imagination through play.
Bruno Munari is a visionary figure in 20th-century Italy. Together, Lucio Fontana and Bruno Munari dominated the Milanese scene in the 1950s and 1960s. These were the years of the economic boom, during which the figure of the visual-operator artist was born, becoming a consultant to companies and actively contributing to post-war Italian industrial research.
