Antonio Bueno (July 21, 1918 – September 26, 1984) was an Italian painter of Spanish origin, celebrated for his diverse artistic styles and contributions to 20th-century art. Born in Berlin to a Spanish journalist father, he pursued art studies in Spain and Switzerland before moving to Paris in 1937, where he exhibited at the Salon des Jeunes. In 1940, he settled in Italy with his brother Xavier, marking the beginning of a significant phase in his artistic journey.
Initially influenced by Post-Impressionism, Bueno's early works reflected this style. After World War II, he joined the "Pittori Moderni della Realtà" (Modern Painters of Reality) group, alongside artists like Gregorio Sciltian and Pietro Annigoni, focusing on trompe-l'œil techniques. Demonstrating a dynamic and experimental approach, Bueno delved into abstract painting between 1950 and 1953 while serving as the secretary for the magazine "Numero." Throughout his career, he continually explored various genres and styles, showcasing his versatility and commitment to artistic innovation.
Bueno's artworks have been featured in numerous exhibitions and are held in high esteem in the art market, reflecting their enduring appeal among collectors.
